Annette Hernandez, Ph.D.
Associate Professor
Annette Hernandez is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at ذكذكتسئµ University in Beaumont, Texas. Her area of research includes sustainable watershed management and engineering education. Dr. Hernandez was born and raised in the Gulf region of South Texas. She received her BS in Civil Engineering, MS in Environmental Engineering and PhD in Environmental Engineering from Texas A&M University - Kingsville. Dr. Hernandez also maintains her professional engineering licensure in Texas.
Before joining the faculty at ذكذكتسئµ University, Dr. Hernandez worked in industry for 2 years and Texas Tech University for 14 years where she rose through the academic ranks ultimately serving as associate dean for undergraduate studies from 2017 to 2021. Her experiences have taught her the importance and necessity of increasing diversity in the workforce. Therefore, she seeks to expand her knowledge of educational practices that she can incorporate in an effort to retain "at-risk" populations.
Personally, Dr. Hernandez is morally opposed to sweating, but braves the elements for a few of her favorite pastimes – camping, hiking and swimming. Otherwise, she spends her time binge-watching comedies, binge-reading sci-fi/fantasy books and hiding from her stalker cat, Dofy.
