History Degrees

The history department uses the exploration of the past to provide you the intellectual tools to become informed, responsible citizens. The department specializes in the fields of American, European, and Asian history, and offers Bachelor's and Master's degrees as well as an 18-hour graduate certificate in history.

Ready to level up as a teacher? The 18-hour graduate certificate allows its holders to teach history at the college or dual-credit level within the state of Texas. The program includes six fascinating classes with professors offering personalized attention on a schedule suited for working people.

Get the most out of your higher education. Together with your major, minor studies will enhance your professional resume.
Students from other disciplines who wish to minor in history must complete 18 semester hours, consisting of 1301 and 1302, either 2321 or 2322, and 9 semester hours of any 4000 level courses. No grade below a “C” will be counted toward the minor.
