PARKING ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING

August 8, 2019

The Parking Advisory Committee will be the eyes and ears for all things regarding parking lots and parking on campus.  Committee will be providing recommendations for improvement of parking on campus. Committee will be making decisions on parking violations and policy.

OLD BUSINESS:

 

Just a note for the minutes that a meeting in July was not held.

 

  • Signage: Meeting with Kate Downing and Katherine Miller report. Katherine has responded to the Marketing Department with some suggested changesA copy of the new sign design is included.

 

  • Committee was asked to assist in prioritizing parking lots that need the most attention for repair and replacement. The library parking lot was discussed and prioritized.

 

  • Two separate surveys have been made to identify the lots targeted for new signage and a map is being developed to indicate exact placement for the signs.  

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

  • DISCUSS THE NEW METHOD FOR HANDLING APPEALS ELECTRONICALLY To save printing and paper costs we have begun a process of sending the appeals electronically for scoring.    Are there any suggestions to improve the process?  All in attendance approved the new method of appeals being distributed and reported.

REMINDING FACULTY, STAFF & STUDENTS OF THE C-1 REGULATIONS. 

 

                REMINDER OF PARKING REGULATIONS FOR LOT C-1

C-1 Parking Lot is reserved from 7:00AM-12:00PM for Senior Students, with 105 or more hours, and a valid Senior Student parking permit.  In addition there are a limited number of EMPLOYEE reserved parking spaces.  Please note that the lot has directional arrows painted on the pavement showing the direction of traffic.  This lot like all parking lots on campus has a speed limit of 10 miles per hour.  Violations are subject to receiving citations. Update striping that is underway.

 

  • LOT UPDATES

               

        The charging station for electric vehicles has been repaired and updated with new software as of June 

  1. The station is located in lot A-5.

 

Curb painting – Campus wide.   All Red and Yellow curbs and blue accessible curbs.  Are being repainted in house through the facilities department.  Work planned for the summer months and completed by August 15, 2019.

 

Campus wide work order to patch potholes in the parking lots was completed by contractor on 6/12/19

 

Lot C-4 will be closed for band practice beginning August 15 – November 22, 2019.

 

Lot G-2 will be partially closed from mid July to August 15th to update sidewalk lighting along the parking lot and Rolfe Christopher Ave.  In addition the entrance onto Iowa street intersection will be patched and repaired. See construction project announcement included.

 

Lot D-8 will be completely closed for surface work to add an electronic gate to convert this lot to a Reserved lot.  In addition an area for Post Office drop off and delivery will be added to the parking area outside of the reserved section of the lot. The delivery/drop off space will accommodate truck deliveries and post office pickup and delivery.  See construction project announcement included.

 

Lot E-1 Will have space allocated to a contractor working on the Science Auditorium.  Work will begin this summer and is scheduled for completion in December 2019.

Lot A-2, A-3, A-4 and A-5 will be CLOSED ALL DAY THURSDAY AUGUST 29, 2019 for the Football Season opening game.  Students will be allowed to park in any “All Permit” lots for this day.  The proposed campus announcement follows:

 

Campus Announcement:

A-2, A-3, A-4, and A-5 will be closed August 29th for the Tailgating and Football game of our ذكذكتسئµ Cardinals against Bethel University Wildcats. The following lots are suggested as alternate lots for August 29th; H-2, H-3, H-8, and T-8. A shuttle will run from 6am-6pm August 29th from the H-2 and H-3 lots to E-4, located between the Plummer and Lucas Buildings. Please come early and/or carpool for August 29th, due to the limited parking that day.  All students are allowed to park in any non-reserved lot on August 29th. However, parking in a fire lane, handicap accessible, or gated lot will result in a citation. Completed Projects:

 

Lot C-1 has had curbs repainted and Directional Arrows repainted

Lot H7 at the CICE building has been expanded and has been completed

Pot Holes in all permanent lots have been repaired

F-6 Speech & Hearing Lot has been refurbished Feb.2019

LED Crosswalks signs have been installed along Rolfe Christopher

G-9 Jim Gilligan Way median cut through to improve access to lot plus an LED crosswalk sign

Temporary Lots are getting bumpers added

Cherry Building Service Drive removed 7 parking lines and changed to “Service Vehicles Only”

 

  • Open comments from the committee members.

 

 

  • Next meeting will be September 12, 2019 at 1:30 PM in the Plummer Conference Room 102
