What We Do and FAQs

Stephen King said, "Write with the door closed, rewrite with the door open." Though he goes on to discuss that writing exists for writers and readers, King could just as easily have been describing the writing process.

Writing can be solitary, the process daunting. At the Writing Center, writers have the ability to "write with the door open," to write among peers, with help and support available. Whether you have begun to write or need help gathering ideas and planning an assignment, the Writing Center aims to improve your writing. Rather than meeting a short-term goal of improving one particular paper, we seek to improve your composing skills so that you can approach any writing assignment in a progressively more skilled and confident manner.

We understand that writing is a skill necessary in many disciplines across campus. We also strive to improve availability to quality support for faculty by providing access to workshops and in-class presentations. These opportunities target specific skills so that you are equipped to translate good written skills into your future careers and vocations.
