LU documentary selected for EdiPlay International Film Festival in Paris

It’s a new year, but LUTV News has kept its same mission: tell the story of the people of ذكذكتسئµ University and Southeast Texas. Just last year, students of LUTV News along with Gordon Williams, studio operations manager, released “,” a 32-minute documentary that chronicles the people and legacy of the Charlton-Pollard neighborhood. The LU team interviewed former residents of the neighborhood, members of the community and local historian Judith Lindsey of the Center for History and Culture of Southeast Texas and the Upper Gulf Coast. edi-play-international-film-festival

The film made waves in 2022 and was accepted to the Prison City Film Festival, the Orlando International film Festival, the San Antonio International Black Film Festival and the Urban Mediamakers Film Festival in Atlanta.

Now, the documentary is an official selection of the in Paris, France Jan. 5-8. The EdiPlay International Film Festival works to “personify the guts of filmmaking, the non-stop effort to push the barriers of the accepted norm and the never-ending struggle to evolve midway.”
Williams previous stated that film festivals give filmmakers a chance to display their work.

“The project allowed the Charlton-Pollard neighborhood history to be shared with a larger audience and gave the students that participated an opportunity to learn, create and be appreciated for their talents.”
