Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music will present one of the most beloved choral works, Handel’s Messiah, on Friday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Cathedral Basilica.
“This Christmas tradition is the oldest work in the musical canon and has been performed for more than 250 years,” said associate professor and director of choral activities Dr. James Han. “The Messiah stands the test of time and will be celebrated for centuries to come, just as it has been performed for centuries past.”
Handel’s Messiah will include the famous “Hallelujah” chorus and the beautiful aria, “Rejoice.”
“These works require advanced vocal technique and depth of understanding of Baroque music,” said Han.
St. Anthony Cathedral is located in downtown Beaumont at 700 Jefferson Street. Admission to the Messiah is free of charge and open to the public. No advance reservations are required. For more information about the Messiah concert or the Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music, please visit
