LU audiology student awarded CaptionCall scholarship
Yared Rodriguez, a second-year audiology doctoral student at ذكذكتسئµ University, was selected to receive a $3,000 CaptionCall scholarship.
CaptionCall, the leading provider of captioned telephone service, provides the annual scholarship to aid students in pursuing their educational goals. This year, more than 80 students applied for the scholarship.
“This scholarship is of great significance in terms of CaptionCall's belief in my success and studies,” said Rodriguez, a native of Laredo pursuing a Doctor of Audiology. “Without it my opportunities would certainly be limited. I am immensely honored and grateful for their generosity; perusing my education would not be possible without it.”
Rodriguez will begin her second year of studies fall 2020 and will use the scholarship money directly for fees and tuition. Upon graduation in 2023, Rodriguez wants to serve as a military audiologist before opening her own vestibular center. The CaptionCall will help Rodriguez to reach her goals.
“The CaptionCall Scholarship is a way to support the field of audiology, the next generation of audiologists, and, in the long-term, overall hearing health,” says CaptionCall CEO Scott Wood. “Audiologists fulfill a crucial role in helping people with hearing loss make choices to stay connected and to continue to enjoy meaningful conversations.”
CaptionCall Vice President of Marketing Paul Kershisnik says CaptionCall strives to be a hearing health advocate to preserve social connectivity and independence for people experiencing hearing loss. “We are pleased to help Yared complete her education,” Kershisnik says.
