ÐßÐßÊÓƵ University Summer Dance Intensive to be held online
ÐßÐßÊÓƵ University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will hold its annual Summer Dance Intensive via Facebook and Instagram this year. The intensive will be renamed “ÐßÐßÊÓƵ University Social Dis-Dancing Intensive” and will be held July 13-17. The online classes will be free and live streamed via Facebook and Instagram from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.
“This is our way of showing our community that we are strong, we are united, we are family and we will overcome this. This format will give us the chance to keep us safely connected with our past attendees of the intensive, as well as open up South-Texas dance to a wide range of dancers from across the world,” said Travis Prokop, assistant professor of dance.
The classes offered during the intensive will be Ballet and the History of Musical Theatre with Professor Lou Arrington on Monday; Body Conditioning and Unconventional Partnering using a Prop with Department Chair Golden Wright on Tuesday; Modern and Guided Improvisation for Choreography with Professor Amy Elizabeth on Wednesday; Jazz and a Q&A about Professional Issues with Professor Travis Prokop on Thursday; and Contemporary with Alumnus Renzo Jimenez followed by a Q&A about ÐßÐßÊÓƵ University Department of Theatre and Dance with department faculty on Friday.
