meet the artists on February 15 during a Gallery Talk at 5:30 p.m., followed by an opening reception.

Bell, a Beaumont native and world renowned, award winning fantasy artist and wildlife painter, has won two Chelsea Awards and was the designer of the popular and award-winning Dragons of Destiny series. She also has won numerous first place awards in the Art Renewal Center’s International Salon and has been named as a Living Master.

Vallejo, America’s premier fantasy artist, is known and loved around the world. Boris is famous for his illustrations of Tarzan, Conan the Barbarian, Doc Savage and many other fantasy characters, as well as movie poster illustration, advertisement illustration and artwork for collectibles, trading cards and sculpture.

"In the world of fantasy art, both Julie and Boris have a huge following. Their fans from this area are always amazed when they find out that Julie was born and raised in Beaumont,” said Dennis Kiel, director of the Dishman Art Museum. “She is the daughter of the late and also very successful local architect Milton Bell. Artistic talent definitely runs in the family."

Vallejo and Bell are married and the two often collaborate on projects. The couple are two of the biggest names in fantasy art and their designs have been acclaimed for more than 30 years. They have worked on many paintings together for advertising campaigns such as Nike, Inc., Coca-Cola, and Toyota.

During the same time, the Dishman will feature Out of Africa: Works of Art from the Permanent Collection located on the second floor of the museum.

Admission to the Dishman Art Museum is free of charge and open to the public.
