ذكذكتسئµ University to present Collage Concert February 1

 

More than 115 ذكذكتسئµ University student and faculty musicians will perform in the University Theatre as the Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music presents its inaugural Collage Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 1. KVLU radio host Joe Elwell will serve as master of ceremonies.

The Collage Concert features ذكذكتسئµ University’s finest large ensembles, small chamber groups, and a variety of student and faculty musicians performing everything from opera to jazz. The Brass Ensemble, Grand Chorus, Flute Quartet, Cardinal Jazz Orchestra, A Capella Choir, Piano Ensemble, Opera Theatre Ensemble, Faculty Brass Quintet, Percussion Ensemble and Wind Ensemble will be included in this year’s concert.

In addition to featuring an array of ensembles and musical styles, the Collage Concert is designed to minimize transition time between acts.   Performers are utilized in a quick-paced and seamless show that will highlight the variety of talent ذكذكتسئµ University has to offer.

The evening will end with a performance of Ola Gjielo’s “Meridian,” including student members from the Wind Ensemble, Grand Chorus and A Capella Choir performing together.   The work also features Jacob Clark, pianist and assistant professor of music.

A pre-concert reception will be held in the Dishman Art Gallery and will be begin at 6 p.m.   This reception will provide guests with an opportunity to learn about the music program and meet students and faculty while listening to jazz and classical chamber music performed by students. Concert admission is $20, with tickets being sold at the door on the night of the event. All proceeds will benefit students through scholarships and other program enhancements that will positively impact the learning environment for ذكذكتسئµ University students.
