Minutes for CID Meeting February 26, 2020.  Reaud 212 3:30-4:30 pm

  1. Greg Marsh and the chairs discussed the calculations methods used for the Key Measure sheets on the College Progress Reports. Greg will follow-up on questions, suggestions, additional metrics and return to discuss in the fall. Thank you to Greg for all his work and input to us!
  2. We discussed these items:
    1. Study abroad procedures. Natalie Tindall and Diane Clark met with Dr Bello-Oguno and discussed issues such as finance procedures and SA help with logistics. Dr. Tindall is now chair of the SA committee, so further discussions will help with continual improvement.
    2. CID involvement in University committees and activities. Liv is now a member of the Adhoc Committee on Committees and Councils under the direction of the Provost. Its work on streamlining and making suggestions to update the Faculty Handbook on these issues in 2020 should prove very helpful. Also the Provost is planning to meet monthly with the Presidents of the CID, Faculty Senate and Staff Council to further communications.
  1. Other topics we may wish to discuss or follow:
    1. Is a chair faculty or administration in what proportions and which capacities for committees and committee voting, teaching calculations, attendance at senate meetings, etc? This is not clear for various items in the Faculty Handbook and discussion and clarification are needed.
    2. Scholarships--if a student gets a merit scholarship what happens?  If it goes to Financial Aid do they lose financial aid?  Can we get clarification on this issue?
    3. Summer class budgets and summer small class criteria.
    4. Tuition costs for students taking 12 or more credits. Fulltime on the website is 12 credits, and is tuition more for >12 credits? Should the website clarify this better?
    5. The status/responsibilities of program directors versus chairs.
