The LU Center for Resiliency is working to develop research and outreach “clusters of excellence” centered around the topics of environment, engagement, and economics. We invite all faculty who may wish to become affiliated with one or more of these “clusters of excellence” to an informational meeting.

LU Center for Resiliency Continues Disaster Backpack Distributions on Wednesdays
Prepare for hurricane season with the LU Center for Resiliency Smartstorm disaster training and receive a backpack complete with emergency supplies to assist you and your family in the event of a disaster. Bring your participation verification to the Signature Center suites located in the Cherry Engineering Building on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Boomtown Summer Serenade: BARTLY
Date: Friday, Aug. 23, 7:30 p.m. Location: Spindeltop Boomtown Museum
The next Boomtown Summer Serenade series performance will feature musical artist BARTLY on Friday, August 23 at for a night of live music food, drinks, and local art vendors. Come early to browse and shop at local craft vendor tables. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., music starts at 8 p.m. Entry fee is $5, or free for LU students.

Location: Join us for a night filled with laughter and nostalgia for the viewing of The Magnificent Seven. With food trucks and adult beverages, it's the perfect Friday night outing. Food truck, concessions and drinks will be available for purchase. Entry is $5, or free for LU students.

2024 Digital Ticket Learning Technologies Conference
Date: Friday, Oct. 25, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Location: LU Setzer Student Center
Free online registration is now open for the 2024 Digital Ticket Conference. Registered attendees will attend sessions centered on digital learning and the latest in educational technology. Registration includes lunch and coffee/snacks between sessions. Session proposals will be accepted through August 31.

First Generation Connections Launches This Fall
The LU Office of Strategic Initiatives is launching First Generation (First Gen) Connections this fall. The purpose is to engage first-generation students using holistic approaches to advance curricular and co-curricular outcomes and transform their college experience. The First Gen Connections program is for students whose parent(s) did not complete a four-year degree. Learn more at lamar.edu/firstgen.

ذكذكتسئµ University Foundation FY24 Request to Pay Processing Deadline
Deadline: Monday, Aug. 19, noon
All Request to Pays (RTP) to be processed for FY24 must be delivered to the LU Foundation office by noon Monday, August 19. End of Fiscal Year 2024 Deadlines Established
The Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 ends on August 31, 2024. Financial Services has established the following deadlines for processing transactions against current FY24 funds to ensure the university's business is conducted in full compliance with state laws and policies. This also helps establish purchase orders/contracts/payments/travel/payroll/inventory applications for the start of FY25. These deadlines are established to enable staff to better manage the increased year-end workload.

New Course Evaluation System Launching Summer 2024
Starting Summer 2024, LU will begin using a new student course evaluation system from Watermark. Students will receive an email inviting them to participate. Course evaluations can also be accessed directly through Blackboard. Questions about the evaluation system can be directed to darpa@lamar.edu.

Center for Resiliency Accepts Submissions for Fiscal Year 2025 Springboard Project Funding
All faculty are invited to submit applications for FY 2025 Springboard projects beginning June 21, 2024. Application forms are available from Carrie Schmidt at CSchmidt5@lamar.edu. All applications must be submitted to your college team lead for your dean's consideration.
