The LU Speech and Hearing Clinic offers audiology services as a benefit of employment to employees, their insurance-covered dependents, or to currently enrolled students, with no out-of-pocket expenses. Graduate School Prep Boot Camp
Date: Wednesday, May 29, noon - 1 p.m. Location: LU Science & Technology Building, Room 203
Hosted by the LU McNair Scholars program, we will share the benefits of extending their education beyond the undergraduate level. Students will be equipped to successfully find programs to meet their academic goals, navigate the application process, and succeed in graduate school.

Governor Abbott Declared May 23-27 as Flood Awareness Week in Texas. In honor of Flood Awareness Week, LU professor Dr. Margot Gage has partnered with Chris Jones of The South End Charton-Pollard Greater Historic Community Association to have a Town Hall meeting on how to prepare for flooding.

Boomtown Cinema Under the Stars

Join us at Spindletop Boomtown Museum for a showing of Tombstone. Just bring your comfy chair or picnic blanket and let the stars be your backdrop for an unforgettable evening. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the movie begins at 8:45 p.m. Concessions, food and drinks will be available for purchase. This event is free for LU students.

Summer Shuttle Services for Students
Campus shuttle services will resume on Thursday, May 30. Details about the summer schedule can be found here. Please be aware that H-E-B and Central Mall routes are for LU students only, and a valid student ID is required. Arrival times may vary depending on demand and traffic conditions.

Carl Parker Memoir Available May 31
TURTLE ON A POST: MEMOIR OF TEXAS STATE SENATOR CARL PARKER will be available May 31. Over two years, Carl Parker recorded stories of his career, and his wife, Beverly, typed them up. Jim Sanderson then assembled, organized, and edited these notes into a memoir. The memoir can be found on Amazon.

Windows 11 for ذكذكتسئµ University
We are excited to announce that ذكذكتسئµ University will be migrating to Windows 11, the latest operating system from Microsoft, to enhance our technological infrastructure and provide you with a more seamless computing experience.
As part of this migration, all university-owned computers will be upgraded to Windows 11 over the summer months, starting May 20th. Our IT team will ensure a smooth transition process, minimizing disruptions to your work and studies.

Enhanced Productivity: Take advantage of new productivity features such as Snap Layouts, Virtual Desktops, and Microsoft ذكذكتسئµs integration for seamless collaboration.

We believe that this migration to Windows 11 will significantly enhance your computing experience and enable you to achieve even greater success in your academic and professional endeavors. If you would like to request a temporary hold for any devices due to software or research needs, or you will be traveling during the summer months and would prefer to update when you return to campus, please visit the IT Service Portal and search for the request titled “Windows 11 Exception Request” then complete the requested information and an IT employee will reach out to discuss the needs.
Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to bringing you the benefits of Windows 11 across our university community. All updates are scheduled for after hours, but if you are working on the device while the update starts, please do not interrupt the update or reboot the device. As always it is best practice to ensure all critical documents are backed up to your LU OneDrive account on a regular basis. Files stored on share folder will not be affected.

Proposal Submission Space Closing for Digital Ticket 2024
Deadline: Friday, May 31, 5 p.m.
A proposal submission space is open for Digital Ticket 2024, a one-day conference centered on digital learning and technologies to be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 in the LU Setzer Student Center. Presentations should be 40 minutes and include a Q&A. Submissions deadline is May 31.
