The ÐßÐßÊÓƵ University Master of Arts in Deaf Studies and Master of Science in Deaf Education are perfect if you are an educator who wants to teach deaf and hard of hearing children. The coursework allows you to develop and incorporate foundational knowledge and theories of educational thought, including various epistemological frameworks, into your teaching practice.

Why Study Deaf Education or Deaf Studies at ÐßÐßÊÓƵ?

The Master of Arts in Deaf Studies and Master of Science in Deaf Education at ÐßÐßÊÓƵ University are certified by the Council on Education of the Deaf (CED), and our graduates are eligible for professional certification through the CED. 
As a graduate, you may also apply for state license as a teacher of deaf children. Master's students have the option of a non-teachers track (with thesis) or a teaching track with Texas certification. Our program welcomes deaf graduate students. Since our inception, we have supported and advocated for deaf teachers in the classroom.

Career Paths

The deaf and hard of hearing master’s program is designed to serve the 40 to 50% of deaf and hard of hearing children who are also diagnosed with an additional disability. This program prepares you for Texas teacher certification and to acquire the competencies specifically needed to support learning and development in children with hearing loss.
